Did you know ~

that yesterday was All Souls Day?
I just happened to see it on the calendar ~ I knew about All Saints Day on Nov 1st ~ but not All Souls Day!
Here's some info ~
All Souls' Day in the United States is dedicated to prayers for the dead.
The Day of the Dead is also celebrated on this day.  Many western churches annually observe All Souls' Day on November 2nd.

All Souls' Day was first instituted at the monastery in Cluny in 993 CE and quickly spread throughout the Christian world.  People held festivals for the dead long before Christianity.  It was Saint Odilo, the abbot of Cluny in France, who in the 10th century, proposed that the day after All Saints' Day be set aside to honor the departed, particularly those whose souls were still in purgatory.  Today the souls of the faithful departed are commemorated.  Although All Souls' Day is observed informally by some Protestants, it is primarily a Roman Catholic, Anglican and Orthodox holy day.

The Day of the Dead celebrations can be traced back to the various indigenous groups, such as the Aztecs and other pre-Hispanic civilizations, from as far back as 3000 years ago.
Skulls were collected and used during rituals to symbolize death and rebirth.

The skull, which symbolizes death and/or rebirth, is used for All Souls' Day.  With regard tot he Day of the Dead, elaborately decorated skulls, including those made of candy, are made for the day.  The Marigold is a traditional flower that is associated with the dead.  Some say that the flower represents the rays of the sun, which is linked with life, so the deceased have not lost their place in the universe.  The raven and the crow have both been linked with death, although some say that the crow tends to be confused with the raven, which they claim is the true symbol associated with death.

Now you know!!!

I didn't put up much Halloween/Fall decorations this year ~ The calendar days were just flying to fast for me this year.

Plus I was putting all my time and energy into making things for my first fall craft show.

I've been wanting to share some pics of my booth ~ So today is the day!

The show was so much fun and I sold lots of goodies!

I'm going to do this one again next year!!!

Here's the few displays I put together on my porch ~

In the month of October we also celebrated Aunt Tootie & Uncle Bruce's 65th wedding anniversary.

Well I better get going we have to meet up with everyone for my Sister Sandy's birthday party!!!

At the wedding they had a anniversary dance with couples being married the longest.
As the years added up the couples dwindled ~ they got to 64 years and there was one couple left on the dance floor ~
Congratulations Aunt Tootie & Uncle Bruce!

They asked for any advice ~ Uncle Bruce said: When the wife says something ~
You just say Yes Dear!!!

Happy Anniversary!!!

Hello Friends!
Today is our Anniversary!!!
We've been married for 22 years.
Like most couples the road hasn't always been smooth.
We've made it this far and we have two beautiful children and three adorable grand babies!!!
Unless you want to count my daughters babies (which are her animals) we have 6 adorable grand babies!!!
We both have wonderful families and they are always around for support and when ever we need a helping hand.
We are Blessed!

So today Honey I wish you a Happy Anniversary!!!  I LOVE YOU!!!!
Why did I post a funny pic of my Husband ~ you ask
Because my Husband is not here with me today ~ he is on a boat in Belize scuba diving.

If you would like to see where he is or what he might see you can view it here ~

The miracle of Love,
Like the miracle of spring,
Is an everlasting promise
Of the joys that life can bring.

Today it is a Beautiful day ~ the sun is shining and the temps are warm.
It truly is a Spring day ~ just like when we got married!!!

Today I will also be celebrating the marriage of my nephew Adam and his new wife Sarah.

May Faith, Hope and Love
be your constant companions
in the years ahead.

Best Wishes to Both of You!

On that note I better get going ~ I have a wedding to get ready for!!!

Oh it's going to be a Beautiful day!!!

Buca's!

The other day we went out to dinner at Buca's Italian Restaurant ~ oh what fun we had!!!

We went there to celebrate my Sister Sandy's B-day and Aunt Tootie & Uncle Bruce's Anniversary!
The restaurant is amazing ~ I highly suggest that if you have a Buca's in your area you should check it out.
Their walls are covered with wonderful pictures and artwork!

Even the ceiling had pictures on it!!!

The food and the waitress we had was awesome!!!
Yum!!!

You order what you want and the food comes out in big bowls that you pass around to share with everyone.  We had 16 people in our group ~ so it was fun passing the bowls around like a big Italian family would!
We had fettuccine, stuffed shells, zit ti, pizza and spaghetti with the biggest meatballs that I ever saw!!!

So on that note!
Happy 66th Birthday Sandy!
&
Congratulations Aunt Tootie and Uncle Bruce
on being together 64 years ~ That's Awesome!!!

Tomorrow we have Trick or Treating in our small town
oh I can't wait!!!
I'll show pics of my decor and Trick or Treating on my next post!!!
Until Next Time!
Get your best costume on!!!
